Ultra Slim 4K HDMI via HDBaseT 70 Meter Extender with Bi-Directional Power
The AC-EX70-UHD-KIT uses proven HDBaseT technology to reliably transport HDMI HD and UHD signals up to 70 meters over a single, twisted-pair category 5E, 6, 6A or 7 cable.
AVPro Edge continues to set the standard for video excellence in HDMI extension solutions with no better real-world example of unbeatable performance at a cost-conscious price than our AC-EX70-UHD-KIT. With a compact, mechanically minimal footprint for ease of placement, the pencil-thin AC-EX70-UHD-KIT has deservedly earned its reputation as a mainstay in our extender lineup with a proven track record for unparalleled reliability and flawless transport of HD & UHD video signals.
The AC-EX70-UHD-KIT provides uncompressed signal delivery (up to the HDBaseT maximum of 10.2 Gbps) from intermediate thru moderate distances determined by signal type, for around-the-clock, failure-free operation in mission critical commercial environments like Control Rooms, Data Centers, Conference Rooms, or educational campuses. Referencing Cat 6A wire, 1080P HD signals confidently travel point-to-point, two hundred and thirty feet, and 4K UHD signals 4K60 4:2:0 or 4K30 4:4:4, accurately navigate one hundred fifteen feet. VESA resolutions up to QSXGA are also transportable. Power for the kit is bidirectional and may be applied at the transmitter or receiver chassis locations.
Creative residential applications might include using a former IR control wire at a projector replacement location to retire a DVI or first generation HDMI cable, and then taking advantage of the AC-EX70-UHD-KIT onboard IR pass-through or RS-232 communication bus for sending control signals to the new projector. Patio TVs maintain a sleek, uncluttered appearance using the AC-EX70-UHD-KIT, able to be easily and securely covered, as source products remain indoors eliminating low hanging, clumsily-fashioned accessory shelves. System operation is conveniently exchanged by the bantam-sized AC-EX70-UHD-KIT’s bidirectional control options. ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection adds a welcomed layer of defense for all connected products.
Never again will you become perplexed by fussy EDIDs in displays or repeaters such as AVRs with the AC-EX70-UHD-KIT’s engineered-in, problem-solving EDID management. Fourteen pre-configured common EDIDs for legacy HD and newer UHD 4K displays reside onboard, plus EDID copy and EDID bypass, all available to conquer quirks in system synergy.
Key Benefits
HD & UHD 4K HDMI EXTENSION
- HDCP was conceived to assure content holders copy protection for their media. The 19 conductor HDMI format was designed to facilitate this process when transporting media between devices, using a total of 8, small gauge wires to handle video information with the bulk of those remaining devoted to system policing. It wasn’t envisioned that sources would be placed elsewhere than the immediate display location, and the first HDMI cable designs dramatically exemplified these inherent problems with a useable HDMI cable length barely exceeding fifteen feet. Over time, this thankfully has been addressed in a variety of well-sorted ways, including AVPro Edge Bullet Train cables. Still, there are no “on-site, made to length” HDMI cables; electronic extension kits using category wire have resolved this issue, plus offering additional application options. AVPro Edge’s pioneering AC-EX70-UHD-KIT was among the first HDMI signal extension packages to perfectly preserve all the fidelity in the original signal.
COMPREHENSIVE EDID MANAGEMENT
- Legacy HD displays are often retained for use in new installation projects and occasionally their dated EDIDs impart problems contending with present-day sources. Robust EDID control on the AC-EX70-UHD-KIT enables juggling video resolutions and audio codec combinations for an EDID that provides a congenial match for reliable system operation. EDID Copy allows for acute copying and saving of a known, working EDID, for stable kit functionality and HDCP repeatability.
DISTANCE CAPABILITIES
- Transmission distance varies by resolution bandwidth. HD 1080P signals can be sent 70 meters (230’) while 4K resolutions reliably reach 40 meters (115’). For new construction or whenever possible, shielded CAT6A is recommended.
POWER REQUIREMENTS
- Power over HDBaseT (PoH) allows both devices to be fully powered from a user-selectable, single unit. The individual chassis of the AC-EX70-UHD-KIT are approximately cell phone-dimensioned, making placement options unlimited. Typical applications find the RX unit mated to the rear, jack panel area of the display with the TX unit and power supply positioned at the source end.
CONTROL OPTIONS
- Configurable, bidirectional control for IR & RS-232 signals provides a carefully nuanced added plus to the AC-EX70-UHD-KIT, consolidating wiring to a solitary pull and mitigating the use of supplemental devices for a clean, efficient installation. Simplified control requirements can take advantage of the AC-EX70-UHD-KIT’s I-PASS, forwarding commands directly from a control system IR-out port into the TX unit I-PASS input, proceeding to the receiving end and routing directly from the RX unit’s IR-out into the display’s IR input jack (if equipped) or through an attached IR emitter.
ON-SITE UPDATABLE
- When necessary, firmware updates may be performed on-site to installed units, removal not required.
Application
4K EXTENDER APPLICATIONS
- Point-to-point HDMI signal extension – sending signal from a source that is a greater distance away from the intended display than a traditional HDMI cable can accommodate or by using pre-existing category cabling where new HDMI cable installation is not possible.
- In addition to a Video signal, IR and RS-232 control communications for system operational functions extend into the same zone as the display or projector.
- HDMI extension from a non-HDBaseT HDMI matrix switch to an outlying display or projector.
- Absent a video signal, the bidirectional control signal capability of the AC-EX70-UHD-KIT can solve a unique dilemma when IR & RS-232 signals are required to be exchanged between two locations when only a single category wire is available. Signal “Send” from one-way only devices at each end otherwise results in data collision. The HDBaseT protocol of the AC-EX70-UHD-KIT supplies an out-of-the-box remedy to conflicting IR & RS-232 data paths.
